Beyonce and Pixie Lott were among the big winners at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin on Thursday night.

The former Destiny's Child star picked up no less than three awards, with wins in the Best Video, Best Song and Best Female categories.

Meanwhile, newcomer Pixie Lott walked away with the Best UK & Ireland Act and Best Push Artist trophies after a hugely successful year which has seen her score two consecutive UK No.1 singles and a Top 10 debut album.

Poker Face singer Lady GaGa was also celebrating after being named Best New Artist and thanked her fans or 'little monsters' in a video-taped acceptance speech.

It was by no means a wash out for the boys though, with rap superstar Eminem and Irish rockers U2 also walking away with a trophy each.

The awards, now in their 16th year, were hosted by I Kissed A Girl singer, Katy Perry and boasted performances from the likes of Shakira, Leona Lewis and Jay Z.
